Two quick updates on Servant...
1) Owen Brock now has his own visual design/photography business, Visual Fluency
2) There is now a great new Servant-related website from Mark Robison. Servant - Righteous Rock from the 80s
In the "well, duh" category...
I had forgotten to set permissions so you can create new topics in the Servant forums.
Sorry about that.
Anyway, now you can...
so hop to it.
There are now forums up and running to post your memories, reflections, and any new information related to Servant. Please add at least an introductory post if you're here as a Servant fan.
A great big thank you to MARK for contributing the lyrics to all of Servant's songs on all of their albums!
You can now see the lyrics for each album when you click on the album title from Servant - the extremely unofficial homepage.
MARK also sent a link to some discussions about the band, including many contributions from former member Eric O'Dell.
Plus, he's sent more details info on Servant's lineup through the years, and helpful historical information too... all of which will (God willing) be integrated into the website in the next few days.
Thanks to their contribution by Arnold, we now have some photos from a 1984 Servant concert at Disneyland. Wow, were 1980s fashions really that cheesy? ;)
Anyway, hope you enjoy them.
I posted one sample photo below.
One of my many in-process projects is creating an online reference about the Christian rock band Servant. They were very influential in my teens, because they played straight forward rock at a time when much Christian music was (as described by another favorite band, Daniel Amos) "sugar cane in cellophane". Not only that, but their lyrics were both strongly evangelistic and strongly committed to social justice... especially for the poor. Several months ago I was surprised that despite their prominence and influence in the 1970s and 1980s, there is little information on the internet about them.
