There are now forums up and running to post your memories, reflections, and any new information related to Servant. Please add at least an introductory post if you're here as a Servant fan.
I saw Servant back in 1986 at Valparaiso University on the Swimming in a Human Ocean tour.
Back in 1994, when I was working on the first issue of a new zine I was starting, I was going to be in Cincinnati to see my sister. I thought I remembered that Servant had last lived in Cincinnati, so I figured I'd try to look them up and do a "Where are they now" article.
I looked up the Brocks, and when I called, I left Sandie speechless for a moment. Her first response was "who would care?" I assured her that plenty of people out there would be interested in hearing about them. Anyway, I ended up meeting Owen out at the University of Cincinnati for the interview. He was just finishing his degree in design at that time.
I found at Cornerstone that I was right. As I distributed that first issue of Life In Death, many people came up to me with their stories about Servant and their experiences with them as a band and as individuals.
I finally got the reissues today and was pleasantly surprised to see a mention of my old Life In Death website, which has a scanned copy of that first issue with the interview. I'm glad I left it up so more people can see the article.
I looked the Brocks up again after moving here to Cincinnati. I see them time and again. They're still happily married and doing great, both of their children are grown. I think both children are married, although I know for sure that one is.
I'm sure the Brocks are grateful to hear the impact God has made through them. Keep up the encouragement.
I'm so glad to see someone promoting a Servant website. I love those guys and have been dismayed to learn that there is never any news about one of the most loved Christian rock groups from the 80's.
I promoted two Servant concerts in Prineville, Or. and a Randy Matthews concert, when they were putting out a record for him on thier Rooftop Records label. It was fun having them stay at the house and help with the dishes and get to know them.
I read somewhere that Bruce Wright died in 90 from cancer. Is that correct? So sorry to hear if so.
Is Mark that I read of here one of thier old road crew? If so, thanks for the live Will Mcfarland music.
